48th (Dublin) Lucan Scout Troop Cub News

On Friday 19th  May 29 Cubs and 5 leaders met at Portlick Scout Campsite for our annual Cub Camp.  We pitched our tents on a damp showery evening but mananged to get them all up dry. The Cubs were very excited and energtic as it was the first time many of them had slept in a tent.  We then headed off on a 5k night hike, which gave the Cubs an opportunity to try out their torches and use up some energy.

On the Saturday morning following a hearty breakfast the cubs were kept busy with lots of fun activities.  They all partook in Crate Stacking, Aerial slide, Kayaking and then a fantastic water slide.

We then had a delicious lunch in the sun and back off to more activites.  We were very lucky to be able to do the afternoon activities in glorious sunshine.  The Cubs has great fun doing Archery, Obstacle course, Climbing Wall , Gladiator Challenge and Human Fuzz Ball.

On Saturday afternoon Adrian arrived to bolster the troops and the Cubs were delighted to see a scouter arrive who knew about football.  That evening we played Man hunt in the forest and we shared our campfire with a Polish School which were also staying at the campsite.

Sunday morning following breakfast and Scouts Own saw all hands on deck to strike camp and we were very lucky to get all our tents down dry.  The Cubs were still full of energy so it was back to the Obstacle Course and Fuzz ball for the younger cubs while the senior Cubs cooked our lunch on an open fire.  Well done to them as it was delicious.

The Cubs were collected at 2 oclock following a funfilled weekend with beautiful weather.  Seemingly many of them fell asleep before they even got to Athlone on the way home.

A huge thank you to all the Cub leaders for all their hard work over the weekend and an epsecially big thank you to Verna Wilson (Beaver Leader) and Adrian Thompson (QM)  for coming along and helping us out.
